creekside, railroad, coffee shop lovin' lovebirds | mary-beth and chris

Q: Is there any object (funny/sweet/goofy) that describes you two or has a story in your relationship?

A: It's not really a physical object, but we really care about the memories we've made together - we're always looking back at our old pictures and revisiting our favorite spots! We keep a 5-year journal together, and one of us writes in it every day so that we can look back every year and know what we did day-by-day, whether it was big or small. It sounds cheesy, but I feel like we try to truly cherish every moment. Also, we love ice cream lol.

Q: How would you briefly describe your relationship?

A: It's surprisingly romantic and emotional especially for people who met on Tinder! As individuals, Chris and I both tend to be logical/methodical thinker, and we come across as good teammates - we're pretty much telepathic, always thinking one step of ahead of each other, and almost always on the same page, all without communicating verbally. But most people don't get to see deeper into our relationship than that. We are really sappy when you get to know, but that rarely comes out in public. We cry together a lot, just because we're so happy together! (PS if you wanna make us get lovey-dovey on camera, two of our songs are "Love Like This" by Ben Rector and "Duet" by Penny and Sparrow. It's a sap-fest every time)

Q: How would you briefly describe who you are with Chris and vice-versa?

A from Mary-Beth: He brings out the best in me. With him, I can see what really matters. I'm a detail-oriented, artistic, perfectionist of a dreamer, so it's easy for me to hyperfocus on small, unimportant things to achieve a goal I can't even focus on. He helps me see the big picture and paint with a broader, brighter brushstroke. When I'm with Chris, I can see that I'm becoming who I want to be.

A from Chris: She completes me. She changes me for the better - I'm less uptight and more willing to go with the flow, because she makes me feel happy, relaxed, confident, and content.

Q: What is the emotion/feeling you want to feel in looking back at these in a year or 5 years or 10?

A: I think we want to let as much of our true selves out as possible - we want to remember how happy we make each other when we look at the picture we take in Wake Forest and Southeastern, because that's how we usually feel in public - two best friends in love. But in a more closed off setting (aka the creek), I think we want to convey that sappy romance that no one really gets to see. We want to remember how we feel right now in our lives - blissful and light, but also moody and romantic. We've never been this happy, but we've also never felt anything this strong and deep. I don't want to forget this kind of oxymoronic pairing of emotions that we're experiencing right now!
